MONTREAL, July 26, 2018– Over the years, the culinary festival Martinique Gourmande has become the annual rendez-vous of Martinican gastronomy in Quebec . This year, the 11th edition is returning from September 13th to 23rd in participating bars and restaurants in Montreal and Quebec City. The event is made possible thanks to prestigious partners such as Air Canada, Club Med Les Boucaniers, and Trois-Rivières rum.
A new edition has already made your mouth water with its theme "Sugar, spices... and great rums". Once again, the flavours of Martinique will tickle Quebecers’ taste buds, with the help of chefs and mixologists from participating establishments who will offer a menu composed of dishes and cocktails during the festival inspired by their vision of the Island of Flowers’ gastronomy, a skillful blend of spices and know-how.

It's a culinary festival that celebrates our traditions, our cuisine and our great rums, brought to life by chefs, mixologists and simply sensational Quebec customers. This year, the Festival will also have the honour of welcoming renowned Martinican chefs, including:
• Daniel LABONNE, Executive Chef of the German Embassy and former Chef of the French Embassy in Washington D.C. (USA). Chef Labonne had the great honour of cooking for the former presidential couple, Barack and Michelle Obama.
• David COLOMBA, Chef of the restaurant Le KoudPouss, the first restaurant on the island, located in the green commune of Marigot. Chef Colomba offers a tasty and innovative Creole cuisine, made with local products.
• The Martinican brothers Jimmy and Thierry LAUZÉA, owners of the Maison Frères Lauzéa, who introduce creations mixing local flavours and know-how. They are regularly named among the 20 best master chocolatiers in the world.
A festival that makes you want to travel!
In 2008, the Martinique Tourism Committee in Canada initiated the launch of this culinary festival with the flavours of the sun and the desire to extend summer in the plates and hearts of Quebecers...It was one of the first of its kind in Montreal! Eleven editions and a few thousand feasts later, the festival now brings together nearly 40 participating establishments, including the original participants such as the Carte Blanche Restaurant, Renoir, Ateliers et Saveurs, Saveur Soleil, Café Prague or the Lab, Comptoir à Cocktails. Now a must in the calendar of foodies, the festival is a friendly encounter between Quebec and Martinican culture, a great opportunity to promote Martinique, its tasty cuisine blending Caribbean, French, Indian and African influences, as well as its exceptional agricultural rum with pronounced sugar cane aromas.
